Pet Vaccination

Taking care of a pet is harder than you would think. Not only do you have to worry about what they eat, where they sleep, and if they are getting enough exercise. You have to also get them the right shots they need to stay healthy. You may be asking yourself, “What shots does my pet need?” That is something to be discussed with your pet’s veterinarian. But, there is never harm in knowing a little bit of what the pet needs before consulting your pet’s veterinarian. Some shots that your pet needs are:

1. De-worming Shot- Normally given to puppies and kittens to prevent the formation of worms in their intestines. Your vet may suggest getting this shot anywhere from once a month to once a year. The best thing to do is to consult your pet’s veterinarian. The reason why this shot is important is because the worms consume the nutrients in the pet’s food before it can be digested. You will notice that your puppy or kitten is not running around like it should, this is because it is starving.

2. Rabies Vaccination- This is given to every animal when they are young to prevent them from getting the rabies disease. Getting this shot once a year is enough to protect your pet. Not only is the rabies disease dangerous for animals, it is also transferable to humans. Through a bite or simply the saliva on an open wound will transfer this deadly disease. For humans, the procedure to cure the disease is through a painful shot in your stomach. For your pet, there is no cure for rabies.

3. Distemper shot- This final shot among the many that you will need to give your pet is sometimes a seven series shot that prevents such things like: adenovirus cough and hepatitis, Para influenza and parvovirus. These diseases are deadly to your pet. With the distemper shot, you pet is protected and you don’t have to worry about your pet’s health.

When you get your pet all the necessary shots, they will have a happier life. No one likes to have a disease or condition. The same goes for your pet. For most, your pet is an integral part of the family. Pets offer companionship and friendship. Why not treat your pet with the same respect you give yourself. Keeping you pet healthy should be a top priority. When you pay attention to your pet and giving them the tools to fight off infections, they will be grateful.
