Spot on application of drugs are now available, which can kill adult fleas instantaneously.

There are drugs containing insect growth regulators in the form of pills. The parasitic insecticides containing in them can kill efficiently the fleas when they hatch, at the same time they can not kill the adult fleas. It is most advantageous if used in combination with Advantage or Frontline Plus, thus killing both adult fleas and hatching fleas. A heartworm preventive medicine is Sentinel which can kill a variety of worms such as whip worms, round worms, hook worms and tape worms.

Topic flea medication for dogs is more advantageous because it can be used once in a month. Frontline even though expensive is good in eradicating ticks. When topical medication is applied, brand rotation is a good practice to hinder the growth of fleas effectively. Capstar is a new one used orally for canines, used as one time application, capable of killing any fleas efficiently.
