Puppy training is an activity that requires a lot of patience, skill and ability to communicate effectively with your pet. While many believe in the concept of positive reinforcement and keep rewarding their puppy with wonderful treats every time it picks up something new, there are others who believe that this could lead to spoiling the puppy and raising its expectations.

It is therefore advisable to tread the middle path. You should have a selection of puppy treats ranging from biscuits to milk bones to plain milk and many others manufactured by reputed brands like Pedigree, Pets at Home, Wainwright and so on. You can then reward your puppy with these treats from time to time based on the complexity of the task it has picked up and is able to do well. Over time, it will also realise that it will get gifts and treats based on its behaviour and ability and will therefore feel motivated to please you such.

Irrespective of the size of the treat, it is the health of your puppy that should be borne in mind when buying them and that is why it is advisable to buy reputed brands. They would use the right kind of ingredients and avoid those which are difficult to digest. Typically wheat, soy and corn are not advisable at this stage of the puppy’s growth cycle and some puppies are even allergic to wheat and corn.
